Artificial intelligence (AI) transparency statement
We are committed to transparency and accountability in our use of AI.
Our AI transparency statement explains how we use AI in limited, low‑risk internal activities, the safeguards in place to ensure human oversight, and how this use complies with Australian Government policy and legislative requirements. AI is not used to replace human judgement or decision‑making.
Audit and Risk Committee
Our Audit and Risk Committee (the Committee) is established in compliance with section 45 of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act and section 17 of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Rule.
The Committee consists of 3 independent members and is independently chaired. The Committee works closely with the Agency Executive Director, Head of Corporate and representatives from the Australian National Audit Office to provide advice and assurance to the Inspector-General, including independently reviewing the appropriateness of our:
- financial reporting
- performance reporting
- systems of risk oversight and management
- systems of internal control.
Data strategy
Data is central to our role in delivering independent oversight of Australia’s aged care system.
Our data strategy sets out how we govern, manage, and use data to support independent oversight, trusted evidence and transparency. This includes culturally safe, rights‑based approaches to data relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We are committed to the highest standards of integrity, impartiality, and public trust.
Our Gifts and benefits register promotes transparency and accountability by publishing gifts and benefits offered to, or accepted by, our officials. This supports ethical conduct and the management of actual, perceived, or potential conflicts of interest.
Public interest disclosures
Under the Public Interest Disclosure Act, current and former public officials can report suspected wrongdoing in the public sector. You can make a disclosure anonymously.
