Scope
The scope of the review is determined by section 28 of the Inspector-General of Aged Care Act 2023 and the Terms of Reference.
The review will consider:
- the measures and actions taken by the Commonwealth in response to each of the 148 recommendations of the Royal Commission
- the effectiveness of those measures and actions in implementing the recommendations.
The review will evaluate measures and actions taken by the Commonwealth on or before 31 May 2027. Due to timing and resourcing constraints, the Inspector-General will only consider measures after this date where they determine it is appropriate to do so.
Out of scope
The review will not consider:
- the 6 recommendations in the Aged Care Royal Commission’s Aged Care and COVID-19: a special report
- the measures and actions taken by:
- state or territory governments, except to the extent that they are relevant to the measures and actions of the Commonwealth
- private aged care providers, except to the extent that they are relevant to the measures and actions of the Commonwealth
- the Commonwealth in relation to an individual matter, except to the extent they are illustrative of the Commonwealth’s response to the recommendations of the Aged Care Royal Commission
- measures and actions taken after 31 May 2027, unless the Inspector-General determines it is appropriate to do so.
